A Wednesday Morn On The Playa, photo by K.C.

I came to as the sound of a marching band came in and out. I knew not who or where I was. As the melodies of the band became more apparent and more focused I remembered that I was on the playa, my name was renegade and that I was sleeping on a hammock in Camp Radio Free Valhalla underneath our geodesic dome. I was naked in my sleeping bag and the edges of the bag were pulled up over my eyes to block out the evil star. This all made sense, but the music of a marching band didn't and as I became more aware of myself I realized that the music was all around me and close! I shyly pulled down the covers to see a 15 person marching band standing all around my hammock and a 6'2" transvestite lovingly dancing around me. I smiled sang a chorus of Roll Out The Barrels and thanked the world for another unforgettable chance wake up call to wide eyed awe on the playa.

Morning? I thought that happened in the late-afternoon.

I was the asshole with the watch, after all, after all...
