Staring at Sound & WORB
I walked into the bookstore when it opened and grabbed the new book on The Flaming Lips that I wrote about yesterday. Let's just say that it totally sucked me in and I just looked up from page 137 and realized the time.
One of my friends from Chicago produced Transmissions from the Satellite Heart and it's fascinating to read about the drama that went on behind the scenes. The book has also taken me back to the time when I was a DJ at WORB, the Oakland Community College 10 watt radio station. I was there between '87 and '89 and was simply addicted to music. Though I never played The Lips on air, I played a great many of the bands mentioned in this book. Husker Du, The Replacements, Sonic Youth, Minor Threat, and the Gun Club all came across my plate. I was a bit more moody in those days and was beginning my addiction to the 4AD catalog and the bands that were the fallout from Throbbing Gristle.
God, I can still smell the radio station. Cigarettes everywhere, a horrible orange shag carpet and a shitty mixing board. Hours upon hours were spent there and in the offices. I was the youngster of the group. Actually, I was still in high school during my first year there. I was removed from high school and placed in college courses to complete my senior year. This was done for my own good and the good of the school. I think that the principal just wanted to get the punk element as far away from his students as possible. It could have been that I was growing more and more disgruntled everyday and everyone could see I was about to blow. Needless to say they gave me the option to leave and I took it to relieve the pressure growing in my head.
Oh, I'm not in the mood to get overly nostalgic today. Maybe I'll travel this path another time.
Happy Moon Day everyone, there's an eclipse as well. Cool.

Came to check you out for a minute.
This site confuses me and if it's the same spot I ended up with like 200 spyware from some page that popped up when I tried to sign up a year ago? I think it's this one, I remember the B.
Oh darn I heard about the eclipse at 6 but had forgotten.
"Where is my mind"
I need a calendar to remember my calendar.
You were in school as it happened at 6 ish.
The moon was so amazing on the way to school Monday. It was illuminesant (Spelling)
Still in a day sky with purple around it, the full moon glowing white. Like my new tennis shoes lol.
I tried to take a pic via my camera phone. It didn't show up.

Are you referning to the blogger site? I hope my site didn't give you any spyware grief. I've not had any issues like that with it.
I prefer blogger over LJ simply because I find it easier to control the sidebar content. I am going to move this from blogger to my home page at some point. Oh, so many things to do.
I didn't catch the eclipse with my eyes, but did catch it with my spidey senses.
No your page hasn't.
It was when I signed up.
As a matter of fact, soon after that I got my first virus that attacked my browser and I could never get rid of by visiting a blog when I did a search.
Not sure who hosted it and I am sure they had their own program.
Anyways, I just find this confusing to look at. It's not hard for me to be confused, I have a nifty case of ADD, but what I like about LJ is you can create your page to suit a set up that works for you.
Many of the people choose styles that are hard for me to follow as well. Mine is easy and simple, not too many blows and whistles.
Your Spidey senses haha.
I had thought maybe of the advanced program at one point, but maybe after graduation I could use some time to put things in my life back together as much as possible before doing that.
I'd like spidey senses someday.
I also might make a go of it with someone out of state, so that would strike that. Mebbe they have good schools in North Dakota.
Hey, I need to ask you, The one part of my practical I am not sure of is, how do I tell someone to get on the table?
"WRAP yourself dammits"
I haven't practices glutes nor energy, but I can foo foo that, its the table issue.
Might be easier to email me at DammitJanett@aol with that.
Enjoy the rest of your day, its a beaut!
Thanks for letting me know that the moon was an eclipse... that explains ALOT of things... especially the strange and wonderful amplified glow around everyone right now!
You are really great at keeping me up to beat with the moon, and many other thing.... Always and in all ways appreciated!
Enjoy your moments!

Just stumbled upon your website. I grew up in West Bloomfield and was raised by WORB throughout high school. I listened from about 86 to 91. The music had a huge impact on me. True freeform indeed, so true that I remember them getting shut down every now and then.
I used to send funny drawings to WORB dj's as a teenager and was such a fan, calling them up just to have someone to talk to at times. Here's a post on my current blog about it:
