Interplanetary Internet

Thanks to Disinfo I got sucked into Mars this morning, literally. Google just released Google Mars, which is going to end up working like the Google Earth client! In the current version Google Mars allows you to explore a particular geographic area of Mars that has been rendered with data from multiple sources.

Until Google releases the Google Mars client with "fly-by" functionality they recommend the attached movie. This was rendered with the same data used to create the Google site. The majority of the data comes from the Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) on NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft. Higher resolution versions are available.
