(The Moon is New!)

Happy Holidays Detroit!
(and all those who grace us here)
Just a short note as we take a breath before our New Year's catering commences. A huge thank you to all who came by to pick up food for their holiday gatherings. We consider it a great honor for Angela's hand crafted food to be shared at your family's table! We also thank you for all the rave reviews and stories of how your family couldn't believe the dishes were vegan. It is always our hope that our work will inspire peace, shifts in awareness and a more personal understanding of health and we are pleased to hear your success stories, especially during the holidays. Thank you so much!

Speaking of success stories, we must mention SILVER SUNRISE and thank everyone who came out! Exceeding everyone's expectations, 70+ people gathered at sunrise on a treacherous snowy Sunday morning to witness a beautiful set from His Name Is Alive, a wonderful Vegan Breakfast, A presentation by Alan, and the New Detroit Premiere of Disinformation's 2012: Science or Superstition. This event was a dream come true and we want to thank Warren and Dion from the UFO Factory for working with us on what we hope will be the first of many collaborations. If you were wondering what it was like, here's 30 seconds of SILVER SUNRISE. We still have a few 2012 DVDs available for $15!

If you learned of the Lab through SILVER SUNRISE or Angela's recent Fox2 News appearance with Deena Centofanti reporting from the Lab, WELCOME! We really appreciate your taking the time to subscribe to Evolve Detroit and invite you to join us for a class or event or talk with us about creating similar events in your area. Please look for more expansive editions of Evolve Detroit in 2009 and consider getting involved in the Lab as part of our Volunteer Corps. There will be no shortage in opportunity to assist others in the coming year and we know we'll all benefit from working together. Thanks so much!

I also want to make sure to mention that our January Vegan and Raw Food Class Schedule is up. We've lowered our class fees and also want to actively express that we will share a sliding scale fee for any of our offerings with anyone in need. Please note that, though Angela is still working on the descriptions, January 3rd's Fundamentals of a Vegan Raw Food Diet is beginning to fill up.

I'm also pleased to invite you to join us at the Lab tomorrow for a special Pranayama session. Saturday the 27th is the New Moon, and as is our tradition at the Lab we offer FREE breath and meditation workshops on Moon Days. The human body is 70% water and is influenced by the moon just as the ebb and flow of the tides are. In traditional yoga asana (physical poses) are not pursued on days of the new and full moon. To share our traditions and connect to the rhythms of nature we offer pranayama (meditation and breath) sessions on days when our classes correspond to the moon. Please join us for this hour long session at 11 am. We have many blankets and chairs for those who would prefer to be off the floor. If this will be your first visit to the Lab please plan to arrive 15 mins prior to the start of class to familiarize yourself with the space. If you have any special needs or have questions about the session please don't hesitate to call 313.316.1411. Since tomorrow is the first New Moon of Winter we will focus on seeding our intentions for the first few months of 2009. Bringing a couple of formulated intentions is helpful but by no means necessary.

Also, please note that Shelley Smith will be traveling to Mysore, India to study with Ashtanga Yoga Guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in January. We are so blessed to have Shelley share with the Lab's community and for her dedication to growing a solid yoga community in Detroit through PLAY Magazine. We send our blessings and prayers for safety with Shelley and look forward to her return so that we can more deeply connect with traditional yoga through her experience. Gregg will be teaching Shelley's 10 am Saturday classes while she is away. Godspeed Shelley!

I think that covers the 'must share' items for today. Please know that a full-on edition of Evolve Detroit is on its way in the near future. As always we thank you all for your interest in and support of our work. Thank you for all that you do!

In Health, Joy and Liberation.
Gregg (Angela, Aya, Alan & the Entire Lab Team)
