We're LIVE From The Guardian!

After a few attempts getting the MacBook Pro to access the wireless network here at the lovely Guardian Building in downtown Detroit, we have finally achieved a connection. Turns out that their wireless system was not compatible with Safari so I had to download Firefox. Now let's see if I can get this little camera working and capture the beauty that we've come to call The Temple.
So, as you can see the building's a beauty! I've been spending a great deal of time here as the colors and geometry lend well to the huge brush strokes I've been painting reality with lately. Check the link to the buidling's website above and look through some of the photos. You WILL be impressed.

The new and brilliant Karmic Cafe is in The Guardian as well. They've been open a month now and I've been eating there almost everyday. It's all vegan, mostly organic and all tasty! Their menu changes every other day and they email it out in the mornings. You can email karmicafe@sbcglobal.net to get on their menu email list and see the phenomenal food they're cooking. My favorite so far is the Soul Food Plate.

Pure Detroit, Rowland Cafe and the Pewabic Pottery Store are all in here as well!

God Bless The Guardian and all who sail upon her!

I don't think I have ever been inside the Guardian Building. Wow!
Thanks for sharing the beauty of old Detroit. It's nice to see revitalization downtown and preservation of this wonderful old building. I need to get down there again! I remember how great it was in the 50's and hope it will be that way again.

Yeah, I used to work in that building. There are interesting windows and statues in the loby elevators on almost every floor. The first floor is amazing.

Is the new Cafe in the old bank in the basement? The old bank is cool because you get to eat in the old vault!

The new cafe is a carry out joint that is in the corner of the building by the north entrance. Most folks get their food there and take it up to the "retail level" near Rowland Cafe where there are tables. I have not been in the bank or the vault. I think the bank might actually be a bank now. Standard Federal is on the first floor where the large painting of Michigan is.
