Gregg's Waxin' On Magic With A "K"

This is part of an email discussion that took place between a few brothers last week. ~G

I'll go out on the limb and say that playing with paradigms, symbols, languages can be a hell of a lot of JUST PLAIN FUN. I'll even go further and say that using the above in conjunction with meme and cultural infiltration can lead to a state of awareness that not only entertains but gives one the impression of purpose. Now, of course, purpose is certainly no requisite for me but it does serve as inspiration to wiggle my butt in a way that dials up the "mainframe" and manifest the "things" I'd prefer to see standing before OR behind me.

I totally agree that magick in general is a hold over from days when science was not fully comprehended. To move it forward, look at Carroll's work, it's poorly understood physics dumbed down to superstition. If you look at the new kids on the block, they're doing the same thing with nano tech and other scientific aspects that folks don't understand yet. Since it's not understood it has power and something that has power without knowledge can easily becomes myth. Myth encourages belief and belief for most humans grows religion. Then we get things like the (insert three letter acronym for magickal order here) and I chuckle, but only after I puke.

And so it goes.

That's why I'm sticking with magick = whatever works. Sometimes yes, it is just living with intense focus. Sometimes there are hand gestures to assist the focus and sometimes there are huge orchestrations required to bring one into focus.

For now I'm just wigglin' my butt. :)
