For anyone in Michigan: 108 Sun Salutations for Hurricane Relief

The Michigan Yoga Center of Northville is please to present:
108 Sun Salutations for Hurricane Relief
Sunday, October 2nd 9 – 11 am

Please join the Michigan Yoga Center in Northville as we come to our mats and practice 108 Sun Salutations to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

There are two ways to participate:

Come to the studio and share in the energy of our community as we dedicate our practice of 108 Sun Salutations to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and those working in the relief effort. Admission is by donation (a suggested minimum of $15). Instruction in the Sun Salutations will be provided by MYC teachers and special guests. Please note that finishing all 108 Sun Salutations is NOT important, but your participation is!

You can also support our efforts by sponsoring one of our participants and their practice of the 108 Sun Salutations. Pledge your support by visiting the Michigan Yoga Center and making a donation. In addition to this our participants are encouraged to seek out sponsors and actively collect donations. Collection forms are available at the Michigan Yoga Center. Checks can be made out to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund or the Humane Society of the United States’ Disaster Relief Fund.

Why 108 Sun Salutations?

It has been said that the nine movement of Sun Salutation A together comprise the entirety of yoga practice. Due to this the practice of the Sun Salutations can be viewed as a complete practice in and of themselves. This complete practice and the physical and mental focus contained within lends to the spirit of this benefit. We will aspire to practice 108 Sun Salutations as the number 108 is spiritually significant in numerous traditions throughout the world.

All proceeds from this event will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund and the Humane Society of the United States’ Disaster Relief Fund.
